The MDA/ALS Center of Hope

In 1984, a new clinical center opened at Hahnemann University Hospital and devoted itself to the care of individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Today, the center has become well-recognized as a pioneer in the multidisciplinary approach to medical care, and it continues to provide quality care and services from an experienced and knowledgeable professional staff.

In January of 2001, the clinic became the MDA/ALS Center of Hope, as it was designated the first and only Muscular Dystrophy Association ALS clinical center in the Philadelphia region. Along with the new name came new services and opportunities through the support of the MDA. It is now part of Drexel University College of Medicine.
